This week, October 1st through 7th, we celebrate banned books, and Century has a special display where you can check out these books in the library. According to bannedbooksweek.org, Banned Books Week “highlights the value of free and open access to information.”

Chances are most of you have read a banned book before. At some point, people have banned Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Captain Underpants, Twilight, The Hate U Give, and many more.

“It’s a week where we celebrate our freedom to choose what we read,” says Jessica Langbein, CMS Digital Literacy Partner. “When books are censored from libraries, we lose the opportunity to think and learn about ourselves and our world.”
