Sixth grade girls are working on their basketball skills three times a week before school. They practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
The intramural basketball program for 6th graders is new this year. Sixth graders are working on their fundamental basketball skills and instead of playing teams from other schools, they instead play scrimmages to practice how a real game would be. “This year, there is not a formal team for 6th grade basketball because the coaches decided they need to focus on fundamental skills and how to play as a team,” says P.E. teacher Cody Lahman.
Intramural boys basketball for sixth grade starts in January and runs until March. The coach for both boys and girls intramural basketball is Mr. Lahman.
