Do you do a sport? Does it take up a lot of your time and leave you with tons and tons of homework? Well so do many students at Century Middle School! Students from 6th, 7th, and even 8th grade do sports and they all have to find a way to balance out school and their sport. Even though it can be hard at times, these students balance the two out throughout the year, and they do so because they love their sport!
“I try to be as productive as I can before and after dancing. I am in multiple clubs, so that makes it kind of tricky, but I have all good grades, so overall I think I balance dance and school pretty well”, says 8th grader, Avery Klautsch.
Avery says that managing school and dance can be hard but that she has learned how to do all her schoolwork on time, and still be able to dance throughout the week. Many students might feel like it’s too overwhelming or just too much to do, but not Avery Klautsch. “Seventh grade for me was harder to balance because I added 2 classes for dance. So trying to balance the two was definitely difficult, but I think that having a positive mindset has helped me a lot. I love dancing because it brings me out of my comfort and boosts my confidence”.
But it’s not only 8th graders who have to balance these sports. So do 6th graders! “Balancing school and dance is definitely hard for me but I try my best to get my work done early so that I have time to do my homework in class. I really just try to get everything done in school so that at home I can just relax and get ready for dance, ” says 6th grader, Blaire Seyfried.
Even from 6th grade students need to learn how to do their sport and school at the same time. This creates some good time management skills and can be useful in the future! Overall, being in a sport like dance while trying to manage school can be hard, but in the end it really pays off!
