Gobble gobble! Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks to the people we love, but it’s also famous for its food. People love the food, and one of the most popular foods is turkey. People also love to celebrate Thanksgiving in many ways, like eating together as a family, doing fun traditions, and coloring turkeys! So, Century middle school’s library held a contest where you had to make a design with the outline of a turkey, and we had some amazing entries, but ultimately in the end we came out with a couple winners.
6th grade students in the Galaxy core, Blaire Seyfried, and Mary Barth, designed a turkey together based on all the sports at Century. In the end, their turkey ended up being one of the winners!
“I really like to cheer and dance, and I also do arts and crafts. So I guess that’s what inspired me to make this drawing. When I looked at the feathers of the turkey it reminded me of a pom pom so that inspired me to draw one, and then me and my friend decided to make a turkey based off different sports at Century.” says 6th grader, Blaire Seyfried.
Sports are fun and can inspire many people, it can even bring people together to make amazing things happen.
“The sports we do at Century really inspired me to make it, and I also like to do arts and crafts so I thought it would be fun to try and do something creative. I also do cheer, and Blaire was the one who brought up the pom pom idea, and I thought it was really cool so we decided to do it. We really enjoyed making it, and had a lot of fun together!” says Mary Barth, a 6th grader at Century Middle.
The library had a lot of amazing entries, but one of the other winners is actually a staff member at Century Middle School, Mrs. H.
“I originally wasn’t going to enter but when I saw the turkey the feathers looked like buildings to me. So I decided to turn the turkey into a town with buildings, and I had fun making it, and I’m happy with how everything turned out!” says Mrs. H.
Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks, family, and a time for having fun. Don’t forget to give your thanks, and have an amazing Thanksgiving!
