Century’s choir and orchestra unveiled the first concert of the year on October 8th, 2024 with some groove! The students in these classes have been working hard to learn musical pieces to show their families how much they’ve improved since the beginning of the year.
6th grade choir student Bilal Naseer says he really enjoyed seeing all his hard work throughout their year pay off at the performance and having something to show for it.
Every voice and instrument was heard in these groups. There was a large variety of songs performed and these pieces really pushed them to challenge themselves and work together with their different voice types and instruments.
The 8th and 6th grade choir students sang an opening song together and the two choir classes alternated songs learned in their separate classes. In between all of the singing, the 8th grade orchestra class played different pieces of music.
As the concert concluded with Thriller by Michael Jackson, choir students performed the famous dance to kick off October’s ‘spooky season’. Even the 8th grade orchestra class managed to get into the spirit and performed the closing song with the choir students.
Leticiana (Leti) Albeyta , an 8th grade orchestra student shares, “ I really liked it and I had a little ‘solo’ which I really liked.”
Leti got to be one of the narrators for the song along with another 8th grade student, Carly Arvanites.
The choir and orchestra classes worked really hard for this concert and we’re looking forward to seeing their progress throughout the year.
