Mary King hangs a new sign in the hallway prior to PRE-MED on August 1st. Mary and the entire custodial staff spend a lot of time working hard over the summer cleaning up the school and getting it ready for the new school year.
Did you know October 2nd is School Custodian Appreciation Day? Mary King is our head custodian here at Century Middle School. You may know her as Ms. Mary.
“My favorite part of working here at Century is the kids,” said Mary. She has worked at Century for 19 years, and for 15 of those years she has been head custodian.
“She is such a go-getter and she makes sure she has everything done. If you ask for anything, she is on it and is willing to do anything to help staff members and students,” says eighth grade counselor Michelle Gillio.
Even the students know how hard Mary works to keep our school looking its best. “I’m grateful that she is here before and after school cleaning and helping this school look as good as it can,” explains eighth grader Olivia English.
When asked what was the most difficult or least favorite part of being a custodian, Ms. Mary said, “The worst part is clearing the walks and doing the snow plowing.”
Thank you so much Ms. Mary for helping out around our school… you are appreciated by everyone!
